Citelighter Raises $2M in Series Seed-2 Funding

citelighterCitelighter, a Baltimore, MD-based education technology company with research and organization-based tools for K-12 administrators, teachers and students, raised $2m in Series Seed-2 funding.

The round was led by Propel Baltimore Fund with participation from Maryland Venture Fund, Gulf Ventures, New York Angels, Baltimore Angels and Blu Ventures, George Roche, Former CEO and Chairman of T. Rowe Price Group, Ed Hajim, President at Diker Management LLC and Frank Bonsal Jr., founder of National Enterprise Associates. In conjunction with the funding, Christopher College, Managing Partner at Propel Baltimore Fund, joined Citelighter’s board as an observer.

The company intends to use the funds to enhance the product, grow into new schools, and increase from 40 to 60 employees.

Led by CEO Saad Alam, Citelighter is an education technology company that provides students with writing tools and gives teachers and administrators the ability to assign, monitor and improve students work. The platform is available at its official website as a free set of student tools or premium teacher and administrator service. Students in nearly 3,800 schools and over 50 countries are currently using Citelighter.
