Talkspace, a NY-based provider of anonymous therapy via a mobile device or online, raised $3.5m in seed funding.
Backers included Metamorphic Ventures, SoftBank and Spark Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to bolster its partnerships with enterprises to make therapy an essential part of company-wide wellness programs.
Founded in 2012 by Roni Frank, Talkspace allows users to sign up to receive a free consultation with a therapist via its web and mobile (Android and iOS) apps. After a preliminary assessment, members are paired with a licensed therapist in a chat room where they can communicate frequently and privately.
In the United States, it has 70,000 members with a network of more than 100 experienced therapists who are on-call 24/7.
