Advanced Animal Diagnostics Raises $15M in Series C Funding

aadAdvanced Animal Diagnostics, a Durham, N.C.-based maker of on-farm diagnostic technologies, raised $15m in Series C funding.

The round was co-led by Cultivian Sandbox and Kansas Bioscience Authority with participation from Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings, Middleland Capital and existing investors Intersouth Partners, Novartis Venture Funds and private individuals.

The company intends to use the funding to accelerate the commercialization of its current product offering, QScout® MLD (milk leukocyte differential) test and expand its product line (by advancing the development of additional livestock tests for dairy and beef markets, and investing in production and manufacturing).

Led by Joy Parr Drach, president and CEO, AAD develops on-farm diagnostic technologies for livestock producers to manage animal health and costly diseases. Its QScout MLD test and QScout Farm Lab detect subclinical mastitis in dairy cows, prevent milk and reproductive losses, safeguard animal health and promote more judicious use of antibiotics.
