Execution Labs, a Montreal, Canada-based game accelerator and investment platform, received C$6m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Corus Entertainment (TSX: CJR.B) with participation from existing investors BDC Capital, Real Ventures and White Star Capital. In addition to the funding, Scott Dyer of Corus joined Execution Labs’ board.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its existing services by offering independent game developers two distinct programs: the Pre-Production Accelerator and the Finishing Fund.
The three-month Pre-Production Accelerator, based in Montreal and open to international applicants, offers up to CAD $50k in funding, shared workspace and mentorship opportunities for new game studios that have not yet entered the full production phase of game development.
The Finishing Fund will provide funding for experienced independent game studios anywhere in the world with games nearing completion, but that require funds and support for final production, testing and marketing. The teams will receive support both from Execution Labs’ mentor network and from its in-house experts. Assistance ranges from game design and data analysis to community building and user experience testing.
