Curiosity.com (Beacon Solutions, Inc.), an online marketplace featuring learning-based content from across the web, received $6m in Series A funding.
Backers included Discovery Communications (Nasdaq: DISCA, DISCB, DISCK), Pritzker Group Venture Capital, Origin Ventures, Chicago Ventures and Corazon Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Sean Atkins (Discovery Communications), Adam Koopersmith (Pritzker Group Venture Capital) and Brent Hill (Origin Ventures) will join the company’s board.
The Chicago-based company intends to use the funds to enhance the platform and refine its offering for consumers.
Conceived, incubated and launched in January 2014 by Discovery Communications, Curiosity.com aggregate and organizes content that triggers curiosity and knowledge-building – with more than 500,000 courses, classes and tutorials from 300 trusted partners.
