Alfred Closes $2M in Funding

alfredAlfred, a New York-based subscription errand service, closed $2m in funding.

The round was led by Spark Capital with participation from SV Angel and CrunchFund.

The company intends to use the funds for new hires and expansion into new cities.

Founded in 2013 by Marcela Sapone and Jessica Beck, Alfred is an in-home service that takes care of the tasks its users don’t have the time to do including laundry, dry cleaning, home cleaning, grocery shopping, package drop off, picking up prescriptions, and other services.
The service has just launched and available in both Manhattan and Boston on an invite-only basis.
Currently, the company uses an internal mobile app to operate its proprietary back-end system and plans to launch a consumer-facing mobile app in 2015.
