Ooyala Acquires Videoplaza

videoplazaOoyala, a Telstra subsidiary that provides video streaming, personalization and analytics, has acquired Videoplaza, a London, UK- and Stockholm
, Sweden-based provider of video advertising technology and monetization platform.

The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

The acquisition allows Ooyala to enter the video ad market and expand its product portfolio.

Led by Founder and Chief Executive Officer Sorosh Tavakoli, Videoplaza operates a premium video ad serving platform and programmatic trading solution, delivering ads to viewers across all devices. It is used by broadcasters and media companies in Europe and the Asia Pacific region.
Clients include affiliates of the RTL Group such as M6 (France) and IP Deutschland (Germany), members of the Bonnier Group such as TV4 (Sweden), Mediaset (Spain), STV (UK), MediaCorp (Asia), Sony Entertainment India and Singapore’s Mediacorp.
It was backed by Creandum and Northzone (read here).

The aquisition will allow the company to expand into the U.S. and address a broader range of customers around the world through Ooyala’s global sales force.
Each company’s individual offerings will remain in the market on a standalone basis. Tavakoli and his executive team will lead Ooyala’s video advertising business line, as its ad serving solution, Karbon, and programmatic trading platform, Konnect, are added to the Ooyala product portfolio.
These solutions will be sold both in conjunction with, and separately from, Ooyala’s video platform.
