MoviePass Raises $2.2M in Funding

moviepassMoviePass, a New York-based movie theater subscription service, raised $2.2m in funding.

The round was led by Chris Kelly, a former Facebook chief privacy officer, and Structure Capital.

The company plans to use the funds to further build awareness of this service.

Co-founded by CEO Stacy Spikes and and Hamet Watt, MoviePass operates a movie-theater subscription service, providing film enthusiasts with the ability to attend unlimited movies.
The service works using a personalized card that members receive in the mail and then use to the box office or kiosk to receive their ticket, and an iPhone or Android app to check-in to the venue.
Launched in 2010, the company is backed by AOL Ventures, True Ventures, Lambert Media, Moxie Pictures, Brian Lee, Diego Berdakin, MJ Eng, Ryan Steelberg, and Adam Lilling.
