Glamsquad Raises $7M in Series A Funding

glamsquadGlamsquad, a NYC-based on-demand beauty services business, raised $7m in Series A funding.

The round was led by SoftBank Capital, a venture firm affiliated with SoftBank Corp., with participation from Lerer Ventures, AOL’s BBG Fund and Montage Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to  expand its menu of services, to enhance its technology and user experience, to increase its hiring in core positions and grow nationwide (beginning in Miami during Art Basel this December).

Launched in New York City in January 2014 by CEO Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, Glamsquad brings trained hair stylists and makeup artists directly to for busy women’s homes, offices or other locations. Its proprietary technology and logistics platform enables dynamic, on-demand or in-advance booking. It recently launched in Los Angeles, its first market outside of New York City.

The app is available for free download while service prices range from $50 for hair services and $75 for makeup applications.
