ecovent Closes $2.2M Seed Funding

Ecovent_Logo_navecovent, a Boston, MA-based maker of wireless vents and sensors for home heating and cooling systems, closed a $2.2m seed funding.

Backers included Otter Consulting, Semyon Dukach (via Boston Syndicates, a syndicate group founded by Atlas Venture to invest in local startups through AngelList), Stewart Alsop, Julia Austin, Will Herman, Warren Katz and Michael Mark.

Led by Dipul Patel, founder and CEO, ecovent extends the capabilities of smart thermostats by providing room-level temperature control and putting an end to heating and cooling empty rooms. The system consists of three components:
– Climate sensors designed to fit any electrical outlet,
– Intelligent wireless vents that adjust to the real-time temperature, and
– an intuitive mobile app for the iOS and Android platforms.

Once the system is installed, the app enables users to set the optimal temperature for every room, and the system automatically opens and closes vents to send airflow just where it’s needed.
The company has begun accepting pre-orders through its website, ecoventsystems.com.
