BitFury Raises Additional $20M

BitFury_LOGOBitFury, an Amsterdam, The Netherlands-based startup that makes specialized chips for bitcoin mining, raised an additional $20m in funding.

Backers included Bill Tai, Bob Dykes, Lars Rasmussen and existing investor The Georgian Co-Investment Fund.

The company intends to use the funds to roll out its chips and further expand its data centers.

Founded in 2011 by CEO Valery Vavilov, BitFury is a Bitcoin infrastructure provider and transaction processing company which offers custom-made application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) optimized to achieve low power consumption coupled with high processing metrics.
It currently has more than 70 team members globally at management offices in San Francisco, Amsterdam and Riga, as well as data-centers in Finland, Iceland and the Republic of Georgia.
