Skillz, a San Francisco, CA- and Boston, MA-based provider of a tournament platform where mobile gamers can use their skills to compete for cash and prizes, raised $6m in venture debt and equity financing.
The round was led by Atlas Venture.
The company, which has raised $13.3m to date, intends to use the capital for a multi-million dollar user acquisition program available exclusively to developers launching games on the platform to attract new players.
Founded in 2012 and launched in April 2013 by Andrew Paradise, CEO, Skillz currently pays out more than $10,000 daily in tournament prizes and operates more than 50,000 competitions a day across hundreds of mobile titles. It is used by developers of any type, from publicly traded studios to one man indie shops.
