Sgrouples Closes $1.2M in Seed Funding

Backers included John Friedman, Jack Canfield, Marci Shimoff, Tom Myers, Mykola Latansky, Dan Phillips and Jack Sweeney.

Led by CEO Mark Weinstein, Sgrouples is a multi-platform, privacy-centric social network that allows individuals and organizations to connect and share with people and communities around them offering a social experience in line with privacy rights. Members own their own content and personal information is kept private. They can allow or deny access to any content they post. The company promises to email every user about changes of policy, communicating exactly what will be changed and give them the option, in the email, to download their content and delete their account.
Combined with Series Seed I which closed for $600k in June, 2013, the company has raised a total of $1.8M in Seed funding.
