Kaiam Corporation, a Newark, California-based developer of a hybrid photonic integration platform, closed an approximately $35m funding round.
The round was led by two new strategic investors with participation from current investors including Marc van den Berg.
The company intends to use the funds for additional expansion of its Livingston (Scotland) facility and to accelerate new product developments.
Founded in 2010 by Bardia Pezeshki, CEO, Kaiam provides high-speed transceiver and photonic integrated circuit products. The company became vertically integrated in 2013, acquiring PLC supplier Gemfire and subsequently has been ramping production of both PLC and active assemblies at Gemfire’s established Livingston, Scotland facility.
