Doutissima, a London, UK and São Paulo, Brazil-based health and well-being forum, raised a seed funding round.
The investment was led by DFJ Esprit with participation from Breega Capital.
The company, which also signed a strategic partnership with Telefonica-backed startup accelerator Wayra, also an investor, will use the funds to improve infrastructure, expand traffic growth and grow its team of global contributors, doctors and journalists.
Founded by former DFJ Esprit venture partner and Brand Alley founder Sven Lung, Doutissima is an online health and beauty forum that provides education and advice in Brazil as its first market. The platform receives 7 million unique visitors per month and 27 million page views and has revenue generated by advertising.
It is also working with VIVO, the mobile operator of Telefónica in Brazil and Terra Brazil, the internet portal of Telefónica, and plans to release a mobile app which will be available in South America and Europe to provide access to an instant messaging feature to contact the community and allow live Q&A with health experts.
