6SensorLabs, a San Francisco, CA-based food testing startup, raised $4m in seed funding.
The round was led by Upfront Ventures with participation from SoftTech VC, Lemnos Labs, Mitch Kapor, SK Ventures, and Xandex Investments.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop its app and launch its portable gluten sensor. To this end, it is hiring people to be added to the hardware, software and marketing teams (read here).
Co-Founded by Shireen Yates, CEO, Scott Sundvor, CTO, 6SensorLabs is to launch a patent-pending device that allows users to discreetly test food for gluten, which is directly integrated with the mobile device to record and share the results of each tested meal.
The company’s platform also combines results from thousands of users to create an accurate map of gluten free food items and restaurants in the world.
6SensorLabs is incubated within the Lemnos Labs.
