Matter and Form Receives $2M Funding

matterform_hero1_800Matter and Form Inc., a Toronto, Canada-based maker of crowd-funded high resolution 3D scanner, received a $2m funding.

The round was led by Sandstone Asset Management Inc. with participation from the MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund (IAF).

The company intends to use the funds for staffing, marketing, and research and development, among other things.

Co-founded by CEO and Founder Drew Cox, a designer and programmer, and Adam Brandejs, Trevor Townsend, a veteran programmer, consultant, and business analyst, who left after the design phase was complete and Paul Banwatt, a lawyer, who joined as COO and General Counsel, Matter and Form offers the Matter and Form 3D Scanner (formerly Matterform), which works with any 3D printer or online printing service and can scan solid items to create 3D representations in seven minutes. Higher quality scans of larger objects can take as little as 45 minutes. It retails at $579 and is available through https://matterandform.net.

Before securing the $2m investment, the company had launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.com raising almost $500k.
