Twitter Acquires CardSpring

Twitter_logo_blueMicroblogging platform Twitter acquired CardSpring, a San Francisco, CA-based payments infrastructure company.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Co-founded by Amit Kumar, Jeff Winner, Eckart Walther, and Geraud Boyer, Cardspring offers an application platform that enables app developers to write applications for credit cards and other types of payments. Backers in the company included Accel Partners, Greylock Partners, Morado Venture Partners, SV Angel, Data Collective, Felicis Ventures and the Webb Investment Network.

At Twitter, CardSpring will continue to grow the adoption of its platform and work with publisher, financial, and retail partners to create new, innovative commerce experiences for consumers.
