The Orange Chef Co., a San Francisco, CA-based company that creates smart products for the kitchen, raised a funding round of undisclosed amount.
Melo7 Tech Partners, LLC, the technology investment and development vehicle created by basketball legend Carmelo Anthony, and Stuart Goldfarb is investing in the company. FOllowing the investment, Both Anthony and Goldfarb, will become advisors to the company.
Established in 2011 and led by Santiago Merea, CEO, The Orange Chef Co. provides Prep Pad, a smart nutrition scale that allows users to understand and control food. Together with the free Countertop iOS app, Prep Pad gives consumers a breakdown of the carbs, fats, protein, and calories on a plate to make meal-time adjustments needed to meet nutrition goals and improve overall diet.
The company recently announced Prep Pad’s integration with the JawboneTM UPTM band, which allows Prep Pad users to get customized meal recommendations based on their activities logged via UP. The integration also automatically logs meals built with Prep Pad into a user’s UP feed, giving them a view of how their personal nutrition factors into their everyday movement.
