Shyp Raises $10M in Series A Funding

shyp2According to a post on its blog (read here), Shyp, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of an app designed to shipping anything, raised $10k in Series A funding.

The round was led by SherpaVentures, with participation from Homebrew and additional investors. In conjunction with the funding, Scott Stanford from SherpaVentures, will be joining Shyp’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds for its geographic expansion in New York City and to expand the team for product development.

Founded by Kevin Gibbon, Joshua Scott, and Jack Smith, Shyp allows users to snap a photo of the items they’d like to ship and request a pickup via an app. A Shyp driver, called “Hero” will then pick up the items within 20 minutes, pack and send them anywhere in the world using the most reliable option.

The service is currently available in San Francisco.
