Garage Technology Ventures, a Los Altos, CA-based seed and early stage venture capital fund, has launched a new strategic investment fund.
The fund, the fifth investment vehicle raised by Garage since the firm launched in 1998, will focus on investing in technologies in the areas of Enterprise & Cloud, Software & Services, Mobility, Consumer Internet, Digital Media, Intelligent Systems, Robotics and the Internet of Things.
It will invest in seed and early stage companies and, in some cases, will grow stage companies. The standard initial investment starts with $250k to $500k with the ability to invest up to $5m in a single company.
Led by Sam Kwok, Bill Reichert, and Henry Wong, Managing Director of the new fund, Garage will syndicate investments with venture capital firms as well as angel investors.
Since its launch in 1998, the firm has funded over 150 emerging technology companies, including Pandora Media, Motley Fool, LeftHand Networks, Tripwire, Coremetrics, Simply Hired, CaseStack, D.light Design, and WhiteHat Security.
In conjunction with the new fund, Garage has opened an office in Hong Kong.
