ABA English, a Barcelona, Spain-based online English platform, closed $3.4m in funding.
Venture capital firm Nauta Capital made the investment.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate international expansion and launch new technology developments for mobile devices.
Launched in 2013 by Javier Figarola, CEO, ABA English specializes in online English teaching using a learning methodology, media content and its own developed interactive technology.
Students learn through a method which simulates the natural process in a real life context, as they learn his mother tongue: first, one understands and learns to speak, then grammar and writing are learned.
In its first year, it reached 1 million students in 170 countries, with a particularly strong presence in Italy, France, Spain, Brazil and Mexico.
