Mantis Vision, a Petach Tikva, Israel-basedĀ developer of advanced 3D enabling technologies and solutions, secured a $12.5m strategic investment round.
Qualcomm Incorporated, through its venture investment group, Qualcomm Ventures, Flextronics’ (NASDAQ: FLEX) hardware venture arm, Lab IX; Sunny Optical Technology Co., and Samsung, made the investment.
The company intends to use the funds to further develop its solutions.
Led by Amihai Loven, CEO, Mantis Vision has built MV4D, a scalable platform that has the ability to capture, edit and experience 3D data at scale for mobile devices, handheld cameras and scanners. This technology enables manufacturers to develop 3D-enabled mobile devices coupled with APIs and SDKs to help developers build consumer-facing applications on top of the MV4D platform.
The company’s consumer-oriented product offering includes a range of peripheral and embedded UG3D devices. Its first product to enter the market was the F5 Handheld 3D Scanner, a mobile scanning solution for professional applications, which is used in the medical, industrial, defense, law enforcement, and cultural heritage fields, among others.
