Cargomatic Closes $2.6M in Funding

cargomaticCargomatic, a Venice Beach, Calif.-based on-demand network for local truck availability, closed $2.6m in funding.

Backers included SV Angel, Morado Venture Partners, Winklevoss Capital, Nicolas Berggruen, Justin Mateen, Scott Banister, Acequia Capital (Fritz Lanman & Hank Vigil), Structure Capital, and Sherpa Ventures.

Led by CEO Jonathan Kessler and COO Brett Parker, Cargomatic provides a desktop and mobile platform that connects local shippers with small trucking companies for local truck availability. The company, which launched its service in Southern California, has operations in Los Angeles, with a coverage area extending from Santa Barbara County south to San Diego County and east to San Bernardino County.

In beta stage since January 2014, the company plans to also begin serving the east coast of the U.S. in the coming months.
