Layer, a San Francisco, CA-based platform to add in-app communications tools, raised $14.5m in Series A funding.
According to TechCrunch, backers included Homebrew, AME Cloud Ventures (Jerry Yang’s investment vehicle), CrunchFund, Fuel Capital and other investors.
Led by CEO Ron Palmeri, founder Tomaž Štolfa, and newly hired CTO Andy Vyrros, Layer provides an open communications platform to build messaging, voice and video features into an app, includong sync, message states, push notifications, etc.
