Hipmunk, a San Francisco, CA-based travel planning platform, raised $20m in Series C financing round.
The round was led by Oak Investment Partners, with participation from existing angel investors, Institutional Venture Partners and Ignition Partners. In conjunction with the funding, Ren Riley, general partner with Oak Investment Partners, will join Hipmunk’s board of directors.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its cross-platform strategy, hiring, customer acquisition, and partnership efforts.
Founded in June 2010 by Adam Goldstein, CEO, Hipmunk provides a travel planning platform and mobile apps that allow users to compare flight or hotel price and choose the best option. It offers a comprehensive travel search, from commercial flights, trains, and charter flights to hotels and vacation rentals through Airbnb and HomeAway.
In March 2014, the company announced Hipmunk Anywhere, which allows logged-in users to begin a hotel or flight search on one device and pick up the search on another device.
