Google Acquires Rangespan

Rangespan   The low risk way for retailers to grow and optimise their online range

Rangespan, a London, UK-based technology company that allows retailers to offer additional products, has been acquired by Google (nasdaq: GOOG).

The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

Founded in January 2011 by Ryan Regan and Matt Henderson, Rangespan combines technologies in the areas of market data services, product data transformation, and vendor management to enable suppliers and retailers to target, expand and optimize their product offerings. It has also developed a proprietary market data service called RangeRank.

Following the deal, The team will continue to work on services for shoppers and retailers at Google and will shut down the company’s services. Octopus Investments, which invested in Rangespan in 2012 (read here) exited the company.
