PolicyMic Closes $10M Series A Funding

PolicyMic, a NYC-based digital media firm, closed a $10m Series A funding.

The round was led by Netscape founder Jim Clark and WebMD with participation from previous investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, Lerer Ventures, Advancit Capital, Red Swan Ventures and the Knight Foundation.

The company, which had previously raised $5m, including a $3m seed round in October 2013, intends to use the funds to continue hiring people in the editorial, engineering, and sales teams (read here).

Led by CEO and co-founder Chris Altchek, Jake Horowitz, Editor-in-Chief and co-founder, Paolo Fragomeni, Chief Technology Officer, James Allen, Vice President of Communications and Strategy, Adam Jaffe, Director of Analytics, PolicyMic offers news, analysis, and perspective for young people to be informed about global affairs, politics, arts, music, technology and science.
It has more than 15 million monthly readers.
