The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz with Reddit also contributing. In conjunction with the funding, Lars Dalgaard general partner, Andreessen Horowitz, joined Imgur’s board.
The company intends to use the funds to continue product development and innovation and grow its community worldwide.
Founded in February of 2009 by CEO Alan Schaaf as a “simple image sharer” for the Reddit community, Imgur is an entertainment platform for sharing images with more than 130 million unique visitors each month.
The company offers free image hosting, paid Pro subscriptions, and an API service.
The site features the Imgur Gallery, a real-time collection of the most popular images being circulated on the Internet.
