eTect Raised Funding

etcteTect, a Gainesville, Florida-based technology company that develops applications for its novel in-vivo wireless communications platform, raised a funding round from The Florida Technology Seed Capital Fund, LLC (Seed Capital Fund).

The amount of the deal, which was matched with private investment capital, was not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds for market launch and revenue generation efforts.

Led by Eric Buffkin, president and chief operating officer, eTect is an innovative mobile platform that aims to provide a deeper understanding of a patient’s medication taking behavior. It develops a capsule that enables real time monitoring of medication compliance by emitting a digital wireless message when it is ingested by a patient.

The company had received a first funding through the  Institute for Commercialization of Public Research’s Seed Capital Accelerator Program in 2012 which enabled it to reach key development milestones and attract additional capital.
