General Assembly Raises $35M Series C Funding

general assemblyGeneral Assembly, a New York City-based educational institution focused on technology, business and design, raised a $35m Series C round of funding.

The round was led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), with participation from GSV Capital, Rethink Education, and Western Technology Investment. In conjunction with the funding, Todd Chaffee, general partner at IVP, joined General Assembly’s board.

The company intends to use the funds to expand the audience and scope of its offerings.

Led by CEO Jake Schwartz, General Assembly offers classes, workshops, full-time programs and online educational
programming on web development, user experience design, digital marketing and data science.
It currently has a community of more than 100,000 students, including an alumni network of more than 6,000 graduates of our courses across eight campuses.
Enterprise clients include American Express, GE, NYSE, The New York Times Company and PepsiCo
