DigitalOcean Closes $37.2M Series A Funding

digital oceanDigitalOcean, a NYC-based developer of a cloud automation platform focused on user experience and simplicity, closed a $37.2m Series A funding.

The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (read Peter Levine’s post here) with participation from existing investors IA Ventures and CrunchFund.

The company intends to use the funds for infrastructure development, growth of the engineering team (read here).

Led by Chief Executive Officer Ben Uretsky, DigitalOcean provides developer with a platform that offers an automated web infrastructure for deploying and customize web-based applications.

The company scalable virtual private servers with the smallest plan ($5 a month/$0.007 an hour) being 512MB.
It has servers in New York, San Francisco, Amsterdam, and Singapore.
