Watchup, a Palo Alto, CA-based video news startup, raised $1m in funding.
Backers included Microsoft Ventures, Stanford-StartX, the Knight Foundation, Campus Televideo founder Ned Lamont, TV news producer Tom Yellin and angel investor Gerry McIntyre.
The company intends to use the funds to improve its app implement new features and add content partners. It is hiring.
Led by former journalist Adriano Farano, Watchup provides an app to watch local and international TV news channels on iPad. Premium partners include AP, WSJ, Univision, IFiles, NBC, PBS Newshour, The Economist, etc.)
