Crowdfunder, a Venice, CA-based investment crowdfunding platform, raised an additional $1m in seed financing.
This brings the total financing raised by the company to date to roughly $2m.
Backers in the round included 500 Startups/500 Mexico, Rob Nail, CEO of Singularity University, K5 Ventures, Ben Goldhirsh, CEO of GOOD, a Director at Banamex (the small business bank in Mexico), Sharon Chang (an impact investor and CEO of Yoxi), and several investments from US and Latin American based entrepreneurs, fund managers, and investment bankers.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth and international expansion in Mexico, Latin America, and beyond.
Led by CEO Chance Barnett, Crowdfunder is an investment crowdfunding platform for connecting investors with entrepreneurs to fund startups and social enterprises. The company provides startups with tools and resources they need to raise capital with an active, accredited investor network.
It also features CROWDFUNDx, a proprietary framework that allows local or niche communities to conduct entrepreneurial contests and educational events.
The company recently received a $230k grant from the Mexican government for local operations funding Mexican entrepreneurs and startups in its crowdfunder.mx, which has already closed 3 deals with VCs and angels in the country.
