Confide Raises $1.9M in Seed Funding

confideConfide, a NYC-based developer of an app that provides off-the-record professional communications, raised $1.9m in seed financing.

The round was led by WGI Group with participation from Google Ventures, First Round Capital, SV Angel, Lerer Ventures, CrunchFund, Lakestar, Marker, BoxGroup (David Tisch), Jeremy Stoppelman (Co-Founder/CEO of Yelp), Doug Ellin (Creator of Entourage) and Billy Bush. In conjunction with the funding, Michael Walrath, partner at WGI Group and former Co-Founder and CEO of Right Media, will join Confide’s Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop the app.

Co-Founded in 2014 by Jon Brod, President, and Howard Lerman, Chairman, Confide is a mobile messaging platform that allows professionals to send private, encrypted, screenshot-proof messages that disappear after they’re sent.
Launched last month, the app has already been used in over 110 countries with languages supported including English, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, German, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Russian, Turkish, Swedish and Arabic.
