Apartment List Raises $6M in Funding

ApartmentListApartment List, a San Francisco, CA-based apartment search engine for the rental market, raised $6m in funding.

The round, which was led by Glynn Capital and Passport Capital, came three months after an initial $15m Series A round raised in November 2013 (read here).

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth.

Launched in September 2011 and led by John Kobs, CEO, Apartment List is a mobile first platform that aggregates listings from Homes.com, Apartments.com, Forrent.com, ApartmentFinder.com, and other sources nationwide, giving users access to apartments for rent.
It features a map-based interface, which allows users to search by location, city, and neighbourhood, price filters to search luxury apartments or to find cheap apartments for rent in a defined area and tools to search for number of bedrooms, bathrooms or any number of amenities.
In October 2013, the company acquired RentAdvisor. And now has a team of 70 employees nationwide.
platform, it is also looking well into the future to bring antiquated, non-digital means of signing rental agreements and paying landlords to an end. This vision of contacting landlords, signing contracts and paying rent all directly through the mobile app will further promote trust and transparency for all parties involved in the rental process.
