Intercom Raises $23M in Series B Financing

IntercomlogoIntercom, a San Francisco, CA-based personal messaging service for businesses and their customers, raised $23m in its Series B financing round.

The round, which brought total funding to $30m, was led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from Series A investor The Social+Capital Partnership. In conjunction with the funding, Bessemer partner Ethan Kurzweil joined Intercom’s board.

The company intends to use the funds for product development and triple headcount in 2014 in its San Francisco and Dublin offices (it currently has 47 employees).

Founded in late 2011 by CEO Eoghan McCabe, and also led by newly appointed COO Mark Woolway (former PayPal and Yammer executive), Intercom provides a personal messaging service for Internet businesses and their customers. It provides a single, integrated platform for the whole company to use for support, marketing, product, and sales communication. It has been adopted by nearly 2,000 businesses including Heroku, HootSuite, Yahoo!, Perfect Audience, Rackspace, and Visual.ly.
