Indiegogo Raises $40M in Series B Funding

indiegogoIndiegogo, the San Francisco, CA-based popular crowdfunding platform, raised $40m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP) and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), with participation from existing investors Insight Venture Partners, MHS Capital, Metamorphic Ventures and ff Venture Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to make new hires in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, continue to expand globally and improve the user experience with a focus on mobile, personalization and trust.

Launched in 2008 by Slava Rubin, Indiegogo operates a famous platform that allows creative, entrepreneurial or cause-related campaigns to be funded by people around the world The company was and is headquartered in with offices in Los Angeles and New York.
To date, it has hosted more than 190,000 campaigns from nearly 190 countries. The platform currently supports contributions in five currencies (U.S. dollar, Canadian dollar, euro, pound sterling and Australian dollar) and four languages (English, German, French and Spanish).
