GoPago Split by Amazon and DoubleBeam

gopagoGoPago, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of commerce solutions to merchants and mobile payments platform for customers, has been acquired by two different buyers.

Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) bought the technology and the engineering & product team while DoubleBeam, a Pasadena, California-based provider of white-labeled mobile payments technology solutions designed to integrate into existing mobile application or digital wallet, acquired the point of sale business and its merchant relationships.

The amount of the transactions were not disclosed.

Led by Leo Rocco, CEO, Vincenzo Di Nicola, Chief Technology Officer, and Steve Elefant, Chief Strategy Officer, GoPago GoPago LIVE is a POS system includes cloud-based POS software and point of sales hardware, a pre-configured tablet, and Verizon 4G LTE data plan. GoPago LIVE POS systems are integrated with a mobile storefront, which allows customers to access users’ mobile stores, and order and pay via smartphone.
In 2012, the company had received an investment from JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) (read here).
