The Zebra, an Austin, Texas-based real-time auto insurance comparison platform, closed $3m in seed financing.
Backers in the round, which brought total funding to $4.5m, included Simon Nixon, Mark Cuban, Mike Maples, Jr., Floodgate, Silverton Partners, Birchmere Labs and Swallow Point Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds for nationwide expansion of its services.
Founded in 2012 by Adam Lyons, CEO, The Zebra is a real-time online auto insurance comparison platform, which compares more than 200 of the nation’s top auto insurance carriers to provide consumers with real-time quotes.
Insurance premiums are adjusted in real-time as users input their information, helping to clarify which and how factors affect their rate.
