UIEvolution Raises $8M in Funding

uievolutionUIEvolution, a Kirkland, WA-based developer of connected services for Mobile, Tablet, TV, and Automotive applications, raised $8m in funding.

The round was led by Intel Capital, with participation from Shaw Ventures, an affiliate of Shaw Communications. As part of this investment, Marc Yi, Managing Director – Intel Capital, joined UIEvolution’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to further invest in its automotive products and connected products in retail, restaurant, hospitality and cruise.

Led by Chris Ruff, CEO, UIEvolution has developed the UIEngine™ platform, tool suite, and specialized services to support real-time data application services, rich storefront clients, multimedia applications, casual games and device/service UIs.
Clients include ESPN, Toyota, AT&T, Microsoft, Samsung, Hikari-TV, and many Fortune 500 companies.

The company has over 100 professionals working in Kirkland WA, Honolulu, Hawaii and Tokyo, Japan. It recently created two specific business units:
The Automotive business, led by Koji Hosaka, President of UIEvolution KK, which will focus on automotive solutions for OEMs and their technology providers.
The Connected Products business, led by Travis Beaven, Chief Product Officer, which will focus on cloud-based delivery of mobile, SmartTV and Digital Signage solutions for the retail, restaurant, hospitality and cruise industries.
