Telly Raises $8M in Series B Funding

tellyTelly (previously known as Twitvid), a San Francisco-based social video community, raised $8m in Series B funding.

Backers included new investors Cinemagic and Lumia Capital and existing investors Azure Capital, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Felicis Ventures, and Georges Harik.

The company intends to use the proceeds to open an office in Dubai, expand product offerings and hire additional staff.

Founded in 2009 by Mo Al Adham, CEO, Telly operates a social video curation platform that allows users to discover and share Hollywood movies and other video content from mobile devices or PCs. The company, which has raised over $21m in funding to date, also acquired Sha-Sha Entertainment in order to bring Hollywood and Arabic movies and TV shows to 22 countries in the Arab world.
