Sketchfab Raises $2M in Funding

sketchfabSketchfab, a Paris, France-based online publishing platform for interactive 3D files, raised $2m in funding.

The round was led by Balderton Capital, with participation from Partech Ventures, Borealis Ventures, David Cohen (founder of TechStars) and existing angel investors.

The company intends to use the funds to scale its platform, expand its team ([email protected]) and continue to develop and improve its product.

Founded in March 2012 and led by CEO Alban Denoyel ([email protected]), Sketchfab provides professional 3D content creators, such as designers, architects, engineers and artists, with a web service that allows them to publish and embed their interactive 3D models in real-time.

It has had almost 100,000 users to date and is integrated with most major 3D software. Platforms like Kickstarter, Linkedin, Reddit or Behance and major brands and media outlets have used the service.
The company, which graduated from TechStars NYC in June 2013, currently employs 10 people from its Paris and New York offices. It has raised $2.5m in total funding so far.
