RethinkDB Raises $8M in Series A Funding

rethinkdbRethinkDB, a Mountain View, CA-based provider of an open-source distributed database, raised $8M in Series A funding.

The round was led by Highland Capital Partners, with participation from DFJ and Webb Investment Network. In conjunction with the funding, Peter Bell from Highland Capital Partners joined the company’s board.

The company intends to use the funds for development and growth of its community.

Co-founded by Michael Glukhovsky and Slava Akhmechet, RethinkDB is an open-source, distributed database built to store JSON documents and scale to multiple machines (read more info here)
