Life360 Raises $7M in Series B Round

life360Life360, a San Francisco, CA-based location and communication app for families, received an additional $7m investment from The Duchossois Group.

This follow-on funding added to the $10m Series B funding Life360 raised earlier this year (read here). The agreement also included a partnership to integrate Life360’s family graph technology into smart home products and services offered by The Duchossois Group’s portfolio companies, such as:
– Chamberlain, which provides home access products such as garage door and gate openers;
BrivoLabs, which is an Internet of Things company operations in the Social Access Management (SAM) market.

Founded in 2008 and led by CEO Chris Hulls, Life360 is a free app for iOS and Android that uses proprietary location-based technology to allow its users to stay connected throughout the day via private location sharing and a messaging stream, regular check-ins, and “panic alerts” when needed.
It features “Circles”, which was recently introduced to enable users to set up separate groups for family, friends, babysitters and others with separate privacy controls for each circle, as well ad “Places”, which allows users to designate their favorite locations and receive automatic alerts when family members arrive.
It is used by more than 20 million families.
