Dell Launches $300M Strategic Innovation Venture Fund

Dell (1)Dell Ventures, Dell‘s strategic investment arm, launched a $300m fund.

Led by Jim Lussier, Managing Director, the Strategic Innovation Venture Fund will enable Dell to invest in early-to-growth-stage companies in emerging technology areas including storage, cloud computing, big data, next-generation data center, security and mobility.
It co-invests with venture capitalists and other strategic investors, acting as a board advisor and making resources (including technical and business counsel, brand scale, OEM solutions, channel and go-to-market relationships) available to the portfolio company.

The new vehicle is the company’s second major investment fund and builds on the $60m Dell Fluid Data Storage Fund announced last year.

In addition to Dell Ventures, Dell provides entrepreneurs with access to technology, financing, networks and knowledge through the Dell Center for Entrepreneurs, which – led by entrepreneur-in-residence Ingrid Vanderveldt – includes:
the Dell Innovators Credit Fund, a $115M debt capital financing program through Dell Financial Services for U.S. and U.K.-based startups
the Dell Founders Club, targeted to entrepreneurs leading recently funded companies who have immediate technology needs to scale quickly.
