CoinJar, a Melbourne, Australia-based consumer Bitcoin exchange and digital wallet provider, raised AUD$500k in equity funding.
The round was led by Niki Scevak of Blackbird Ventures, with participation from Torsten Hoffman, RetailMeNot founders Guy King and Bevan Clark, Rob Murray and Chris Hitchen.
Co-founded by CEO Asher Tan and Ryan Zhou, CoinJar operates a platform where users can buy, sell and transact in bitcoin. It also provides merchant services for those looking to accept bitcoin as a medium of payment.
CoinJar for iPhone is available free on the Apple App Store.
The company has over 10,000 Australian users and is looking to expand globally. It is a graduate of Australian startup incubator AngelCube.
