Plain Vanilla Games, the San Francisco and Reykjavik, Iceland-based developer of the social trivia platform QuizUp, raised $2m in funding.
Backers included Sequoia Capital and eVentures.
Led by Thor Fridriksson, founder and CEO, Plain Vanilla Games is the game development studio behind QuizUp, the social trivia network, which was released just over a week ago and already has 1.7 million signed up users.
Launched on iPhone with over 100,000 trivia questions in close to 300 categories, QuizUp blends human interaction between friends and strangers with gameplay through one-to-one messaging, discussion boards, and leaderboards organized by city, state and country.
