Novasentis (fka Strategic Polymer Sciences, Inc.), a Burlingame, California-based developer of sensory feedback technology, raised $8m in Series B funding.
Backers included new investor Samsung Venture Investment Corporation and existing investor Chengwei Capital.
The company, which had raised a $3m Series A funding round in March of 2008, intends to use the funds to scale up production of their polymer-based actuators and continue building the team.
Founded in 2006 and led by Christophe Ramstein, president and CEO, Novasentis created a thin and flexible electro-mechanical polymer (EMP) haptic actuator and sensor technology used to develop mobile and wearable products with movement and sound.
The company has offices in Pennsylvania, Korea, and Japan.
