From the Bench, an Alicante, Spain-based company that develops social video games based on sports for mobile platforms, raised €1m in vc funding.
Backers included Caixa Capital Risc and Bonsai Venture Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to grow operations.
The operation is aimed at positioning the company as a world leader in the development of sports mobile games.
Founded in 2008 José David Poveda, CEO, and Felipe Alonso Simarro, CTO, From the Bench develops sports video games for all platforms (iPhone, iPad, Android and Amazon). It has created games to become virtual coach of the teams of La Liga and the NBA.
The company, which currently has 35 employers, also develops Be a Legend!, a game to become a sports star. The user, who assumes the role of the best player on his team, can play for free and improve his progress by purchasing virtual products through micropayments.
